Shardiya Navratri 2023:Navratri holds a special significance among Hindus. These days are purely dedicated to worship Goddess Durga. Navratri festival is celebrated for nine long days and nights. Devotees worship Goddess Durga and seek blessings. This year, Shardiya Navratri festival will begin from Pratipada Tithi of Shukla Paksha in Ashwina month i.e., October 15, 2023 and it will end on Dashmi Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Ashwina i.e., October 24, 2023.

Significance:

Devotees keep fast during this time to worship the goddess. This festival carries a lot of spiritual significance. Women keep fast to pray for their family and husband. Some people keep nirjala vrat, while others follow a vegetarian diet during the festival.

Celebrations:

This year, Shardiya Navratri will start from October 15 and will end on october 24 with Vijaya Dashami 0- the day the idol of Maa Durga is immersed. Shardiya Navratri is celebrated in the states of West Bengal, Bihar, Assam, Tripura, Odisha, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh as Durga Puja – one of the largest festivals of the country.

Shardiya Navratri 2023: How to do Ghatsthapana?

1. Devotees wake up early in the morning and take a holy bath.

2. Clean the house and the temple area where Maa Durga idol  will be placed.

3. Take a wooden plank and decorate that plank with flowers.

4. Spread a akshat and place an idol of Maa Durga and offer garland, chunni and put tilak.

5. Place the kalash full of water after spreading some rice and put coconut on that. Put tilak on kalash and make Swastik on that.

6. Take an earthen pot and put and some clean soil in that and add jwar in that add some water in that. Now you can cover that with a plate.

7. You have to check that daily and put water in that as per the requirement.

8. Now the Ghatsthapana is completed.

9. Offer prayers to Goddess Durga by lighting a diya with pure desi cow ghee.

10. Offer Supari, Meetha Paan. Laung, Elaichi, Fruits, home made sweets.

11. Fast observes must chant 108 names of Goddess Durga and recite Vedic mantras to please Goddess Durga.

12. Some people organise hawan daily starting from partipada Tithi till Dashmi Tithi.

13. In the evening also, one must perform puja, recite Durga Sapatashati Path perform aarti.
